Both clear and yellow lenses are appropriate for daytime use, but the lens color is actually an important distinction that you'll want to consider when purchasing your own pair(s) of TrueDark Daylights.
Our yellow lenses block 75% of blue light – this is truly the optimal amount of blue light to block during the daytime. We acknowledge that they can get some getting used to, but also want to emphasize that yellow lenses are actually the most effective option for blocking junk light while maintaining energy and focus.
Remember that your body needs some blue light during the daytime in order to stay awake and alert (and to carry out natural biological processes), so you don't want to block any more than 75% of blue light during the day.
Our clear lenses block 40% of blue light – this is notably less than what our yellow daytime lenses block; however, this is significantly more and better than blocking nothing! These lenses are ideal for people who:
- Need to see true colors on a computer screen (e.g. graphic designers)
- Are required to stay in uniform at work (e.g. doctors, flight attendants)
- Aren't quite ready to rock the yellow lenses out in public just yet, but want to take the next step in protecting their eyes, mind and body from junk light
If you're looking for the most functionality possible, then yellow lenses are the way to go. If you're style-conscious and you haven’t noticed severe eye-strain when working on computers, tablets or phones, or under fluorescent lights, then the clear lens solutions are a great option for you.
